December 06, (THEWILL) – In less than 72 hours after a deadly explosion killed three people and injured eight others along the Dansadau-Gusau Road in Zamfara State, two more blasts have been reported on critical routes in the state.
The latest explosions occurred between Dansadau and Malamawa as well as on Malele Road.
The incidents have heightened fears among residents in the Maru Local Government Area, which has been plagued by banditry and other violent activities.
While the extent of casualties or injuries remains unclear, Zagazola Makama, a security expert, disclosed that the explosions caused significant destruction, adding to the region’s growing insecurity.
The earlier explosion on Wednesday involved a Volkswagen Golf 3 vehicle that detonated an Improvised Explosive Device allegedly planted by suspected bandits along the Dansadau-Gusau Road.
Although no group has claimed responsibility for the latest attacks, the Zamfara State Commissioner of Police attributed the incidents to the notorious Lukurawa group, a bandit faction known for its violent operations in the region.
The affected routes are vital to transportation and commerce in Zamfara, but escalating violence has made them increasingly dangerous.
Local authorities have yet to provide an update on measures being taken to address the security threats.
Zamfara State has been a hotspot for criminal activities, including abductions, killings, and the planting of IEDs, as residents continue to grapple with the rising tide of insecurity.
