South Africa reveals 5-year visa policy for Nigerians, cancels passport requirement
South African president Cyril Ramaphosa has issued new rules concerning Nigerian tourists, declaring they can now apply for visas without requiring their passports.
President Cyril Ramaphosa also announced that Nigerian business people and tourists eligible for the process could be given up to a 5-year multiple-entry visa.
“Our efforts to create a favourable environment include our simplified visa process for Nigerian business people to travel to South Africa. Qualifying Nigerian business people can be granted a five-year multiple entry visa,” he said.
Police arrest Harvester founder Pastor Bolaji Idowu for money laundering and real estate fraud
The Nigerian Police Force has captured the founder of the famous church, Pastor Bolaji Idowu of Harvester, for real estate fraud and money laundering.
The Force Criminal Investigation Department, Abuja, is currently interrogating the pastor.
The Harvester church, which is said to be one of the most popular churches in Lagos in recent times, was allegedly founded in 2003.
Airline cuts airfares to ₦80,000 for all destinations
Nigeria’s oldest airline, known as “Aero Contractors”, has announced that it would be slashing the prices of its trips to all locations in Nigeria for the sum of ₦80,000.
Ado Sanusi, the airline’s managing director, revealed this development on Tuesday, December 3.
The announcement was made in line to make trips around Nigeria affordable during the festive season and will continue until the end of January 2025.
“We have understood the pains Nigerians have been going through because of the economic hardship, the high prices of tickets, and the holiday season is nearby,” he said.
“So, Aero contractors have decided to announce a Christmas initiative; we call them pocket-friendly Christmas prices. These prices are designed to allow Nigerians to travel to all our destinations without paying too much.
House of Reps warns CBN to suspend its plan to retire 1,000 staff
The House of Representatives has warned the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), requesting that it rescind its plans of retiring 1,000 staff with a ₦50 billion payoff for the affected members.
The House of Reps has launched an investigation into the CBN to understand the apex bank’s reason for suddenly announcing mass retirement.
The House has asked that the CBN suspend its plan while the investigation continues as it sees the heavy consequences that could lead to increased unemployment and mass dissatisfaction.
Namibia elects Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah as its first female president
Namibia has made history by electing Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah as its first female president. After the tough presidential election, Namibia’s ruling party, SWAPO, was announced as the election winner on Tuesday, December 3.
The 72-year-old politician made history after winning over 57% of the ballot against her opposition from the Independent Patriots for Change (IPC), who had 25.5%.
The Electoral Commission of Namibia (ECN) announced yesterday that of nearly 1.5 million registered voters, almost 77% had cast ballot votes in the presidential election.
