Former India great Sachin Tendulkar has scored numerous records during his illustrious career. However, records are meant to be broken. Moreover, the legendary batsman always desires that his batting records should always be surpassed by fellow Indians.
Tendulkar, who is the brand ambassador for this ongoing ICC ODI World Cup 2023, attended the Wankhede Stadium to support Team India during the match against Sri Lanka. The Master Blaster was accompanied by former Sri Lanka spinner Muttiah Muralitharan.
However, Sachin was unable to witness Kohli match his world record of 49 ODI hundreds. Unfortunately, Kohli fell short by 12 runs during the match on Thursday.
Kohli was dismissed on 88 by Sri Lankan pacer Dilshan Madushanka which left the majority of the Indian crowd at the venue heartbroken.
Star batsman Kohli was disappointed to miss out on equaling Tendulkar’s ton. His frustration was evident on the ground.
Meanwhile, Sachin is happy that an Indian cricketer has the opportunity to surpass his record in ODIs.
“The 49 ODI hundreds record is not my record, its India’s record. As long as it stays with India, I am happy,” said Sachin during the innings break.
