Atin Ito team eludes Chinese blockade

THE Atin Ito convoy of civilian boats called off plans to sail closer to Bajo de Masinloc (Scarborough Shoal) on May 16, but organizers declared “mission accomplished” after an advance team, dispatched a day ahead of the official supply mission, broke through a Chinese blockade.

The Atin Ito (“This Is Ours”) coalition convoy set sail May 15 to distribute fuel and food to fishers and assert Philippine rights in the West Philippine Sea, a portion of the South China Sea that Beijing claims despite an international ruling that nullified those claims.
