Many travelers rushed to seaports and bus terminals on Friday morning to take advantage of the long weekend amid the observation of All Saints’ and All Souls’ Day holidays.

A total of 149,300 outbound and 141,036 inbound passengers have been monitored in all ports, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said in its report around 10 a.m.

Jenneliza Rebong, Philippine Ports Authority’s acting port manager for National Capital Region – North, told Unang Balita that over 1,000 passengers have booked trips for Friday, higher than the 386 on Thursday.

According to Rebong, these trips are heading to Bacolod, Puerto Princesa, and Zamboanga cities, among others.

In Davao City Overland Transport Terminal, the management is bracing for the expected 50,000 to 80,000 passengers on Undas, according to a report of Super Radyo Davao’s Jhesa Torrefranca.

Last year, 1,500 bus trips were recorded in the Davao City bus terminal during the similar period.

At the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX), the management said a total of 671,502 passengers were recorded from October 28 to 31. The day with the highest number of foot traffic was October 31 with 194,154 passengers.

Light to moderate traffic was observed on the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) and South Luzon Expressway (NLEX) as of 7 a.m. on Friday.

The management of NLEX is expecting more volume of vehicles from morning up to 2 p.m. on Monday, according to Bea Pinlac’s report on Unang Balita.

From October 31 to November 4, around 360,000 daily motorists are expected on NLEX, 10% higher than the average number. On the Subic-Clark-Tarlac Expressway (SCTEX), up to 85,000 vehicles are expected.

Meanwhile on SLEX, a few motorists faced mechanical problems but these were immediately fixed, according to a report of Bam Alegre.

The traffic situation in the National Capital Region on Friday morning was “light compared to yesterday,” according to the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority. —KBK, GMA Integrated News
