Angry Ghanaians have come for the head of Danquah Institute economist, Dr. Frank Bannor, after giving the Vice President Dr Bawumia a lot of credit for Ghana’s recent economic expansion.
According to data, Ghana’s economy grew by 6.9% in the second quarter of 2024 – the fastest rate in five years.
This led Dr. Bannor, who is the Head of Research at the Danquah Institute, to praise Bawumia.
“When it comes to economic management, no one can surpass Dr. Bawumia. His leadership has been transformative, and this growth rate is evidence of his visionary policies. His ability to navigate and manage the economy even during challenging times shows why he is an economic prophet,” Dr. Bannor stated.
However, social media users were not buying his claims and bombarded him with questions over why Ghana’s economy is in such shambles if Bawumia is so great.
“But the inflation and exchange rates are not his prowess. Dr paaa should stop this, the aggregation of money through borrowing alone over the period should increase the growth rate more than this,” one comment read.
Another said; “But the: 1. Lockout frm the international finance isn’t his? 2.The economic collapse isn’t his? 3.The debt default isn’t his? 4.The DDEP isn’t his? 5.The Cedi collapse isn’t his?”
