Together: Treble Winners
Netflix, Tues, April 2
For all of Manchester City’s scintillating football and incredible success, they’ve struggled to form a bond with fans beyond their home city. None-the-less, this six-part docuseries following the team’s treble-winning 2022/23 season will be of interest with its look at events on the pitch and behind the scenes.
Ripley
Netflix, April 4
Andrew Scott takes on the role of the titular conman in this slow-burning and seductive adaptation Patricia Highsmith’s 1955 crime novel. Southern Italy looks great in the show.
Sugar
Apple+, April 5
Colin Farrell hasn’t been sighted much since his success with The Banshees of Inisherin so it’s great to see him return in this twisty thriller series. He plays dapper, multi-lingual finder of missing persons with a smooth persona that belies his ability for violence when it’s needed.
Tracks and Trails
RTÉ One, April 5
Spring has very much sprung and the new series of the hiking show features trails in counties such as Kerry, Waterford and Tipperary. First up, Nicola Tallant tackles the Boolas Loop in the Comeragh Mountains in Co.Waterford. It’s a tough one, but the crime journalist also tries a less-challenging coastal walk from Dunmore East. Episode two has Sinead Moriarty travelling the Grand Canal greenway.
Scoop
Netflix, April 5
How did Britain’s Prince Andrew ever think that an interview with Emily Maitlis on BBC Newsnight would help his image in the face of awful allegations being made against him. Unsuprisingly, it was a disaster. As well as the interview itself, this 103-minute film takes us into the negotiations that made it possible. An impressive cast includes Billie Piper, Gillian Anderson, and Keeley Hawes.
The Dry
RTÉ One, tbc
The second season of Nancy Harris’s comedy drama has been getting great praise during its current run on ITV, so Irish fans of the show will welcome its return to the national broadcaster. Roisin Gallagher is back playing the recovering alcoholic whose family aren’t as supportive as she expected.

If you weren’t at the cinema to see Cillian Murphy in his Oscar-winning role, it will be available on Sky soon. Another huge film becoming available to buy for home viewing is Dune: Part Two, with Sky Store Premiere releasing it on Monday 15 April. Both films deserve as big a screen as possible.
Kayak Ó Thuaidh
RTÉ2, April 12
Anyone interested in getting out on the water might fancy this new series in which two novice kayakers, Tessa Fleming and Irial Ó Ceallaigh, take instruction before heading on a journey along the north coast.
Franklin
Apple TV+, April 12
Miniseries on Benjamin Franklin, the newspaper editor and slave owner who became one of the founding fathers of the US. Michael Douglas is in the lead role of the eight-part show that particularly focuses on Franklin’s trip to France in 1777 to drum up support for American independence. (That European sojourn also saw him travel around Ireland)
Thank You, Goodnight: The Bon Jovi Story
Disney+, April 26
We don’t quite believe that his four-part docuseries really was ‘all access’ but it doe promise to give plenty of insight into the New Jersey rock band. As well as interviews and concert footage recorded in 2022, the programme makers also had access to Jon Bon Jovi’s home videos, demo tapes, etc.
